Amazon.de marketplace returns
Hello,
I received the new TWIN PEAKS SEASON TWO CD via amazon.de marketplace seller cdimports (a.k.a. "Import CD Specialists") today. Unfortunately Track #1 skips during the strange sound effects/monologue part and I can see an irregular pattern on the unprinted side of the disc. My question is:
Has anyone of you ever dealt with returns of CDs to "importcds" or other US importers on amazon marketplace and do you recommend it? (Did you get postage for sending it back reimbursed? Did they accept the return without discussions?)
I'd be glad to hear of your experiences.
Regards,
Urs

Hi Urs,
So far I've only had one occasion to return a faulty item.In my case it was a dvd to a marketplace seller throught amazom.com.
The experience was fine.I contacted the seller through the procedure indicated. They got in touch and refunded about 80% of the cash.I didn't get all the cash because I still have the dvd and thy couldn't replace it.There is still a possibilty that a friend can make a copy for me anyway.
So i think you shoud be ok.If you don't get satisfaction from the seller i think you will then contact amazon,If you need to.

Hi Damjamcar,
thanks for your feedback. In the meantime, it seems there is more to the disc "glitch" I described - see my latest thread.

Urs, keep cool. The Amazon policy doesn't require to return products from the US. Just place a
guarantee claim and mark the product as defect. They will reimburse you quickly.

Thanks, David.
It seems that after all the CD does play fine, the "hidden track" (see my other thread) just confused me a bit in the beginning.

"The Amazon policy doesn't require to return products from the US. Just place a guarantee claim and mark the product as defect. They will reimburse you quickly."
???
David!...
Is this true for items purchased through amazon.com's own store in the U.S. as well?...
I am NOT referring to the so called U.S. 'third party sellers'.
Thanks!

Yep, seri. Sounds quite unbelievable, but that's Amazon's REAL first-class customer service.

I agree, Amazon is THE most customer friendly shop I have ever encountered (I live in Europe and order plenty from Amazon US).
I have experienced everything, from faulty discs to items which never arrived. For all those things, they had a quick and very fair solution - without any kind of discussion.
I believe you are also insured against 'fraud' from 3rd party sellers on Amazon, but I don't have any experience with that.

Purchases from Marketplace sellers are covered by the same A-Z guarantee. I buy quite a lot
form Amazon.com and there are a lot of "dubious" 3rd party sellers. But thanks to Amazon's
incredible service, there has never been a serious problem yet.

Yes, I understand... but to keep the defective item as well?
This is what I have read...
"You may return most new, unopened items sold and fulfilled by Amazon.com within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.)."
Nothing about keeping defective item.

If the item is a CD or DVD, they usually renounce the return. If you want to be totally sure,
claim the item as lost, not as defective.
CDs or DVDs from 3rd party sellers usually do not require a return. I had often complained
about CDs with hole punched bar codes, which hadn't been mentioned in the item's description,
and was fully refunded.

I'm jealous David... : - (
I have never had problems from amazon.com. orders and any orders I have placed trough third party sellers has been done outside Amazon and fortunately never had any problems with those as well but it sure would be nice to order from every seller through Amazon's website so I can receive the best possible price. It is very frustrating!
I also read something about filing a claim up to 5 times, or something like that.
serifiot, November 12, 2007; 2:50 PM

No jealousy, seri! Better be glad, that you never encountered any problems.
Yes, you're right, Amazon's guidelines limit the number of complaints to 5. But I've had some
more than these and it was never a problem. They even called me by phone to assure me that
they'd continue to cover serious complaints.
Thumbs up, that they'll finally decide to deliver to Greece too!

Hi Seri,
recently I received a DVD from Amazon US that just didn't play.
They asked me to return the item while they sent me a new one for free.
Within hours of shipping the item back to them, I received an e-mail in which they explained that returning the item was not necesarry, because I live overseas and the cost would be too high for me.
However, I had already sent back the item, so they decided to also refunded my shipping costs! In fact, I even made some money on this whole ordeal!
You can't go wrong with Amazon...
