Need help about mysterious Herrmann piece of music...
Already posted that message on the Bernard Herrmann Society website, but thought it would have a wider audience by also submitting it here:
Got a bootleg LP in my collection (yes I know, it's bad) called "Great Fantasy Film Music", issued in 1979 on the Poo label ref. LP 106 (see here http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=61521).
Like all records from this company, the back cover is partially written in japanese, maybe to try to fool lawmen by suggesting it was imported, but as far as I know it was produced in the US. It's a nice compilation with lots of unavailable (at the time, and for some, still today) recordings or rerecordings like THE TIME MACHINE (Garcia), SON OF BLOB (Garson), CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED (Goodwin) et al...
What I am wondering is what is that piece of music from Bernard Herrmann called "CONVULSIONS/Love Theme". It lasts 2:12 and is typical Herrmann, mainly with violins and harp. I know I have it somewhere else, but can't find it.
And that LP is almost never mentioned in any Herrmann discography.
Maybe someone who knows the LP I am speaking of could help.
Thanks

Considering the date (1979) of that album, my guess....from the track title....is that it's a retitled piece from Twisted Nerve or from Sisters. Just sounds like something from one of those two films....especially considering this is a bootleg album, that wouldn't be surprising.

Without hearing it, convulsions sounds like a title from "It's Alive".
Bernard Herrmann music always plays well at night.
Some of the old so called bootlegs are great.

That's a possibility also I'd thought it might be....the bootleg track could also be a shortened version of an album track which was two or three cues put together into on track, but shortened down for the bootleg release. If I heard it I'd probably recognize it.
