If your looking for an excellent recording I can recommend the version that David Grusin did on a tribute CD to Hank. Diana Krall sings "Soldier in the Rain" and "Dreamsville" on this GRD #9865 recording.

thank you for your reply, I already have this recording by Diana Krall, also I have the version by Monica Mancini. But the version I am looking for is of the tune that appears on the opening credits of the movie. I do NOT know the name of that tune but is a jazzy animated melody. I only heard it once on a TV commercial for a financial institution. I f you happen to have a copy of the VHS tape of the movie (no DVD release yet) you will know what I am talking about. Thank you for you reply. I am still looking for that tune if anybody happens to have that tune on either MP3 or any kind of format please let me know. I am willing to exchange it for any tune from my soundtrack collection.

It's on one of the old RCA Mancini recordings. It's not the exact version heard on the film but recorded in the early 60's by the composer himself.
My favorite version of the song is on the 1963 Quincy Jones Mercury LP of Mancini music. An instumental with Toots Thielman.
