Matilda only 70 left in stock. Don't leave it!
Varese Sarabande's supply is running low. If you want this score now is the time to buy!!

Why?

It is now sold out! But you can buy the Varese club cds which are sold out from European dealers but prices are more expensive.

I would'nt be interested in it personally. The fact that a recording has been released on a limited edition basis isn't reason to obsess over acquiring a copy of it.
There are those who will buy 5 or 6 with the intent of reselling at an inflated price on ebay. The level of greed and desperation these days is enough to make a person feel like smacking someone in the face.
victoravalentine, March 21, 2008; 12:13 PM

I agree. God knows I have bought my share of limited editions in the past which turned out to be, well, shit. I learned my lesson. Did bought this one, cause I really like Newman (he is in my opnion one of those few modern day composers who can compose a decent score).
But I dont think that's what jmreed means with his post. He is just warning those collectors who do like Newman and Mathilda, that they have to be quick if they want to buy this cd (for a normal price). Nothing wrong or greedy about that.
erikvantholt, March 21, 2008; 2:34 PM

I've never listened to any of David Newman's scores. have listened to a few Thomas Newman scores.
I was just refering to those who buy the limited edition recordings with the intent of attempting to resell at an inflated price three months later as contaminating the air with greed. Not the OP.
victoravalentine, March 21, 2008; 3:08 PM

Knives is too right. The buy-to-sell-on crowd are scum! Within days of Varese selling out (and sometimes before their shipping day which always amuses me) there are people on ebay selling copies (which clearly they cannot have as Varese haven't shipped them yet) at a marked up price.
The biggest watch word is that if you truly love scores, you gotta stick to the main dealer sites like Intrada, Varese etc... and keep on top of when your favourite composers are releasing stuff, otherwise, you run the risk of the rip-off.

"Why?"
Because it will be sold out, what a question !
Anyway I wonder if any of the people who are generalising the market 'rules' here actually listened to this score before becoming so smart and realizing they will not buy it because it's limited.
That's it for my bilious morning.

I think coma meant to say...
"Why buy this piece of crap anyway?" but left it simply as a WHY? response.
It is not a bad score. It's good but not the pinnacle of film scoring but again what is, and besides... it's all a matter of taste.
By Love Possessed (previous club), Viva Zapata, Caretakers, Images (previous Prometheus)... great (for me) film scoring!
Of course... once more, a matter of taste.
BTW, goodmorning to all!
PS
Thanks jmreed for informing us. I mean that!

Maybe he did but I really doubt that anyone cares if he doesn't want to buy it. This topic seems to be rather for people who are interested in the music (myself for example).
42zaphod, March 22, 2008; 1:09 PM

Well...
I thank him for reminding me...
I wanted to buy and delaying it...
Now I have bought it and few other CDs from SAE
bedfordfalls8000, March 22, 2008; 6:49 PM

I love this score too. Thanks jmreed for the reminder, had I not read it I would've missed the boat. Don't want to fund expensive lifestyles for a**les on ebay.
