Cinefonia Records
Could you tell me offhand a bit about this record label?...
Why did they stop producing cd soundtracks and what happened with their leftover stock? Would they have normally sold in bulk their unsold titles to other retailers?
I noticed here in SC's database that Cinefonia has produced 84 titles. Perhaps there are more out there.
I checked wikipedia and I cannot get any information on this record label. Most likely nobody ever bothered to submit anything.
Where can one buy Cinefonis titles? I noticed Screen Archives has very few. I have not checked others yet.
Lastly, do you remember their website link? I don't think it was cinefonia.com.
If possible, I am trying to go back into their archives using an internet archive engine but I get nothing.
I'm very tired. I hope I have some info by the morning.
Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you!

As far as I know, Cinefonia sadly went bankrupt over a series of Gabriel Yared CD releases that simple didn't sell (I think 6 CDs with 3000 copies each). Some quantities of these stocks were bought by resellers and show up on Ebay until today - Ebay seller rolsonline has a few of these -, but allegedly large quantities were destroyed for storage reasons. The Cinefonia film music magazine went out of production as a consequence of this, too. Really a sad story.

Thanks Urs! Quite sad. Hmmm... Yared bankrupted Cinefonia so to speak. I have acquired some Vladimir Cosma cd soundtracks and they are absolutely beautiful. I remember a huge sale perhaps a couple years back but was stupid not to materialize my order. Very regrettable! They were so damn cheap. The cd soundtracks should not have been destroyed. Thanks again... I'll check the eBay seller.

The mega discount sale (I think it was 20$ or 20€ for the first CD and then just 2 for every additional title) you mention was in fact a desperate attempt to get the CDs off the shelves and after that measure didn't work out either, it was Cinefonia's end.

Yes, that is the sale (sigh!)...
If those had sold well, perhaps that would have been a boost for the business but I guess it did not go well.
I was offered every title in stock including John Scott releases and so on including shipping for something like 200 euro which was not bad... I was hesitant and too late.
On the other hand to justify things and make myself feel better, I am thinking that perhaps, just perhaps they would have ran with the money not sending me even a jewel case as a Cinefonia souvenir. Most likely not but it serves its purpose of... 'self consolation' for a few seconds.

No Cinéfonia jewel cases, seri! Nearly all of their releases came in digipaks. And btw, whoever believed, that a Yared CD would sell more than some dozen copies, is not optimistic, but completely out of this world. Too sad, Cinéfonia is out of business, but obviously, they tricked themselves.

Serifot, there seems to be a few Cinefonia releases for sale on Amazon Co.UK
