What film scores are you listening to now? Plus comments

Hello,

In my cd changer today:

"Gloria" - Bill Conti (Great unique jazzy film score)
"The Jungle Book" - Basil Poledouris (Very Good-I sure miss Basil)
"The Black Swan - Alfred Newman (Classic swashbuckler)
"Sky Bandits" - Alfi Kabiljo (A fun action/adventure score)
"Kilimanjaro:To the Roof of Africa" - Alan Williams (I give it ****)
"Shackleton" - Adrian Johnston (Very good score and a good film as well)

How about you?

Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

The complete score to Speed Racer by Michael Giacchino, it's brilliant.

Goodmorning!...

"LE TEMPS RETROUVE" - Jorge Arriagada

Melodic, gentle to my ears. A class act!

Hello David,

I am also listening to "The black swan". Remembers in some parts

Also listening to:

- Stripes (Bernstein)
- The good the bad and the ugly (GDM expanded)
- Darkman (Elfman)
- Baby (Goldsmith,ISC)

Kind regards
Peter-Anselm

It's amazing! I'm listening to the same than Serifiot: LE TEMPS RETROUVÉ.

I purchased it after receiving KLIMT, also by Arriagada. Both scores are beautiful, melodic and accesible. The only inconvenient is that Arriagada's music sounds similar to other familiar things (mainly from the classical repertorie).

Happy listening!

I've never much liked LE TEMPS RETROUVÉ. I had high expectations but found the music inconsistent and uninspired. Good that you can enjoy it. Nevertheless I also bought 2 more Arriagada scores recently.

I'm now playing THE PAINTED VEIL from Alexandre Desplat. Very good music (favorite theme: "River Waltz") but I'm missing some climax -- the music seems to flow without really getting somewhere from the start. But a solid effort and should I put it on a rating scale, 4 out of 5.

Hello
"les demoiselles de Rochefort" - Michel Legrand (Always in spring I hear it / Don't ask why it's
kind of a ritual !)
"Joe versus the volcano" - Delerue ( for the nostalgic feeling I guess )
"Jellysmoke/Unknwn Soldier" - Peter Calandra ( nice jazzy scores for both great films )
"One night with the king " - JAC Redford ( An excellent surprise and definitely a great score !)

Nice week end to all !

I got in the mail yesterday the new release on Naxos of Mark Twain Films from the pen of William Perry. I have so many Twain recordings in my collection now ranging from Steiner, Rosenthal, Moross and Conti another one is yet another interpretation. This one does have some interesting tracks with harmonica but there is nothing groundbreaking.

Items in and out of my player

Barry 7's Connectors 2 Comp - featuring work by Giuseppe De Luca for 'Il Dio Chiamanto Dorian'
Sonorissima Vol 1 - funky library comp
Italian Police Deluxe 3 CD Box - love those Angelis brothers
The Devil Rides Out (James Bernard) - possibly the most frightening score after Goblin's 'Suspira'
Ghosts of The Civil Dead (Nick Cave) - dark stuff lightened by Anita Laine's sweet vocalese
Du Riffifi Au Cine Box - Great overview of Crime Movies from France
King Creole (Elvis Presley) - one of the finest R'n'Roll soundtracks
Girl On A Motorcycle (Les Reed) - Marianne in leather, big beat...what more do you want on a grey, wet day in the South of England.

Take Care
Dominic

and still "listening out" (as in wearing out) ;-) the
SUPERMAN BOX (John Williams, Ken Thorne, Alexander Courage, Ron Jones)
