mono Sayonara

I recently baught a copy of the rare CD from the original sountrack of Sayonara (Franz Waxman, 1958). This is the 2001 spanish edition. I am very disappointed by the sound of the four last tracks. It's in mono and the sound is very lousy. Does anybody know if all the CDs have the same problem ? Is the LP edition better ?
Thanks,
Eric.

As far as I know, for the manufacture of the Spanish series of "Living Stereo" RCA classic soundtracks, the masters of the original LP recordings have been used.

Anyway, you are right, the last four tracks of this CD have a really awful sound but, although I haven't been able to listen to the original LP, I suppose the same problem does exist with the vinyl. Same masters = same sound, and the CD doesn't poit out the fact that they have made any remastering process.

Angel

I must correct you on the 'mono' issue. The tracks are distinctly in stereo as well. I have a
button for mono-playback on my amplifier and with headphones you can clearly hear that the
tracks are in full stereo. The soundquality is indeed less than the other tracks, probably the
source was different and not as well preserved. I'm also curious to know if the LP has exactly
the same sound.

By the way, I bought this CD only last month for a cheap price, but I guess I was lucky.

Just to let you guys know. The LP is in stereo (the one I have anyway) and there is NO distinction in the quality of sound. The tracks are consistent and the last four tracks sound like the rest of the tracks. I played track one on side b and then jumped to track 4 on the same side and the sound was consistent throughout as I would expect on any LP that I play.
I hope that helps.
