Bang The Drum Slowly (Stephen Lawrence)
I'm surprised this score has never been released on CD. It's pretty good!
Several times I've been compelled to listen to this music in early spring when the flowers are beginning to bloom and the birds are building their nests. It's not a sports film although it does regard the game of baseball.
The music is sentimental but not mauldlin (I can't stand mauldlin).
FSM should get to work on a double score release of "Bang The Drum Slowly" and T.R. Baskin (Jack Elliot). Both originally released by Paramount records.

The hint of why they have not been released is probably due to the fact that they were released by Paramount.
Paramount tends to hold on to licensing their music. The same was said about Disney but it appears there are inroads through Intrada now.

I agree, I know this movie-have seen it many times. The music stays with me for a long
time after seeing it. De Niro is great as always as are many of the supporting cast,
Vincent Gardenia and Ann Wedgeworth among others. Lots of vinyl to be had on the net.
I guess it goes on my already long "waiting for" list or I buy a new turntable and start
down that road again.

Are you aware of laser turntables? Checking them out on the internet a few days ago. Several thousand dollars on up. One of these day...
Whenever spring rolls around I often remember "Bang The Drum Slowly". It's one of those early 70's scores that really stand out.
