Recommendation - preferences updated 24.5.
Hello,
looking for something special ;-) We will be having a wedding in the summer house with big garden in 3 months. We will be having a band in the evening, but we are looking for soundtrack for the ceremony. We don't want traditional "wedding march" but want have something special.
What would you suggest?
thanks
Jane O.

Thanks for your responses. John Barry is really sad.
I am looking for something more contemporary, happy and joyful. We don't want to have people crying - it should be really more sunny.
thanks a lot

I've no idea of your predelections, but I'd suggest "Gattaca" by Michael Nyman, "Hana-Bi" by
Joe Hisaishi or "Solaris" by Cliff Martinez.
If you're looking for something more "classical", I'd recommend John Barry. Particularly "Swept
From The Sea" or "Somewhere In Time".

Knowing your preferences would be of great help. Anyway, I can suggest a couple of things:
- "How Can I Not Love You" from ANNA AND THE KING (George Fenton, sung by Joy Enriquez). This could fit if you are looking for a disneyesque romantic (and not much known) song.
- "Générique de Fin" from LE DERNIER MÉTRO (Georges Delerue). This short and beautiful waltz could be a good choice if you are searching something more classical.
As Coma has suggested above, John Barry has some great romantic melodies (you can add OUT OF AFRICA). Beautiful, but sometimes too much nostalgic and sad. I'd recommend you to listen to some more optimistic (also romantic, of course) tracks by Georges Delerue: STEEL MAGNOLIAS, RICH AND FAMOUS... (not to mention my all time favourite Love Theme: "Love Theme from SUPERMAN" by John Williams, although this may be too cinematic).
Best wishes and good luck!

I would recommend THE DEATH HUNT by Bernard Herrmann or ONLY YOU by Rachel Portman.

I can heartily recommend Nanny Mcphee by Patrick Doyle (not the slapstick tracks of course!!!), in particular the final track on the cd entitled Snow In August. The track was used in the last scene of the film which "strangely enough" was a wedding! I personally think it was the years standout single track. Seven mins dead on, but the theme runs throughout the album, though not as grand as this finale. Check it out, im sure you won`t be disappointed. With some editing software i think you could achieve something lengthy enough to cover the ceremony. On a side note, this is the same route ill be taking come my wedding next year!
Best
