BSX releases?
Hello,
Does anyone have a guess or hopes for the two new releases from BSX next week?
One release is "a remake of a classic film with a lovely orchestral by a composer who has never had a limited edition cd release of one of his scores"
The second is "a sci-fi effort from the 1980's that has been out of print far too long and gets a really cool expanded release"
Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

Hmmm...
Over at FSM, the clues were a bit expanded. The classic film seems to be a remake of a remake of the 80's of an original from the 60's...
My guess is:
Score 1: Body Snatchers (Joe Delia). Although the first remake was from 1978, that might be close enough to the 80's...
Score 2: Def-Con 4 (Chris Young).
Let's see next week...;-)

Not sure about the first release, but I'm thinking They Live for the Sci-Fi score.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the second title is John Carpenter's THEY LIVE. Take a look at the hint:
"It's not by Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, James Horner or John Barry. It's from the late 80's. Do we give you anymore clues? Nada..."
Nada ("nothing" in Spanish) is the second name of the main character of this movie: John Nada. And the music was composed by Carpenter himself and... Alan Howarth (a close friend of BSX).

Hmmm...
You guys might be richt about "They Live"... I didn't see the final clues before...
That would be too good to be true, I am an old and true Carpenter fan :-)))
Though I must say that TL is my least favorite Carpie / Howie effort. It's perfect for the film, but the harp starts getting on my nerves with time... *smile*
Here's my fav list (in no particular order) for future expanded Carpenter and/or Howarth scores:
1. The Fog: Please finally bring in all the missing themes!!! The expanded Silva release brought high hopes but was a letdown in the end
2. The Thing: Even though merely drones, the Carpenter score contributions would be most welcome (Opening titles etc.)
3. Prince Of Darkness: Aah, would be mooooost welcome
4. Retribution: a complete version of Alan Howarth's score would be awesome
5. The Lost Empire: Also there, a complete version would be bliss. A very fun, partly gentle, partly exciting score with signature Linn Drum percussion...
Let's keep dreaming...

Ok, if it's THEY LIVE, it will probably be signed by Alan Howarth and not our dearest John Carpenter... :-(
