George Fenton
What are your favourite George Fenton scores? "Anna and The King" is mine! Most of his scores for the BBC nature series are great too!

Of the two scores by Fenton that I have, Company Of Wolves is my favourite and one of the few 80's scores that I made a determined effort to locate on CD to replace my worn out vinyl. The movie was part of that period when British film enjoyed a brief rennaisance...then they made 'Revolution' with Al Pacino, Donald Sutherland & Natasha (sic) Kinski...the FOOLS! The other score btw is 'Dangeros Liasons' which I'm not overly enthusiastic about but seems to command high prices on Amazon.

We urgently need a new vBulletin based and searchable forum. It's not too long, that this
question has been raised and answered, but no one is supposed to locate the respective
thread. That's quite a strain, as the number of questions asked over and over again is
constantly increasing.
Please, Ton and Erwin, it's not such a big thing to implement a revamped forum and it would
be an enormous improvement to the quality of this great site. Thanks!
Btw, my favourite score is The Madness of King George.

Oddly enough, not too many of Mr. Fenton's score CDs fetch high prices on eBay (even the aforementioned Dangerous Liaisons is running below $10). For some reasons, his music is not popular amongst collectors which is a damn shame!

1. Deep Blue
2. Planet Earth
3. The Jewel in the Crown
4. Cry Freedom
5. Dangerous Liaisons
6. Shadowlands
7. Anna and the King
The most difficult to find are probably 'We're no Angels' (because it's a Varese Club release),
'Jewel in the Crown' (on CD) and 'Trials of Life'.
I've been following this composer right from the start of his career and Gandhi was my first
Fenton score when that came out on LP. My preferences shifted over the years, I used to like
'Company of Wolves', '84 Charing Cross Road' and 'White Palace' a lot too, but hardly play
those these days. 'Imagining Argentina' is a great score by him that was never released on
CD, a shame really.

In response to Delerue re: value of Fenton's oeuvre. On amazon. Co. Uk 'Dangerous Liasons' is selling at £176.59 used. Both 'Cry Freedom' & 'Jewel In the Crown' are £50.00 (lowest prices) & 'The Trials Of Life' £30.00. On Amazon. Com they are admittedly cheaper. If you're a Fenton fan it obviously pays to be a US resident!

I don't have too many of Fenton's score music but from the ones I do have, ''DANGEROUS LIAISONS'' is an excellent film score and a favorite of mine. One of my first. I had no idea it was that expensive. The movie is excellent as well with top notch performances. The last scene imprinted in my memory with Glenn Glose looking in her boudoir mirror is so moving and powerful.
''THE MADNESS OF KING GEORGE'' is yet another Fenton film score I enjoy listening to.
As far as SC's forum needing an upgrade... YES, please!
Thank you David for bringing that up. I had posted a thread a couple of months back concerning this matter and Erwin responded that an ugraded SC forum was going to be implemented in the following weeks with a search engine and a feature were it would be possible to have old topics replaced on top when new responses were posted.
WHEN???
