FAT MAN LITTLE BOY aka: SHADOW MAKERS by ENNIO MORRICONE.
I may just be shooting in the dark here, but will this beautiful score by ENNIO MORRICONE EVER GET RELEASED?! The film was called FAT MAN LITTLE BOY (UK title: SHADOW MAKERS). The film was released in 1989 and was about The Manhattan Project, starring PAUL NEWMAN, JOHN CUSACK, LAURA DERN, JOHN C. McGINLEY, BONNIE BEDELIA and DWIGHT SCHULTZ as Oppenheimer. The film tanked on release, which is shame really because it isn't all that bad. But the score by MORRICONE is one of the best he's ever done, in my opinion. The soundtrack has never been released which is strange because the film was directed by ROLAND JOFFE ("The Killing Fields", "The Mission"). And The Mission score was released, as was "City Of Joy" another Joffe/Morricone collaboration which tanked on release in 1992 and the soundtrack still was released. And Morricone scores to flops have been released before ("ORCA- KILLER WHALE" and "THE ISLAND"- 1980.) So why not SHADOW MAKERS? IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. I heard maybe that because the film was released by Paramount, they are one studio which has not opened up it's soundtrack archives yet (unlike MGM or FOX) this score for SHADOW MAKERS remains unreleased, and also it would cost a lot of money in musicians fees and music rights to release the score. This is all just rumour I heard, so I don't know. I'm not sure. But if anybody out there knows anything, please respond. Thank you very much. In the meantime, I'll keep hoping one day the full score to SHADOW MAKERS will get released.

I agree. I loved that film, and the score is exceptional.
...never heard of the 'shadow makers' part, though.

The problem is indeed Paramount.
It´s one of the most complicated studios to work with and to this date, it´s nearly impossible for a independent label to release something from their vaults.

I have been looking for years for this soundtrack. Thank you for the information. I even rented the video and taped my favorite piece (the music behind the scene with Oppenheimer and Tatlock in her apartment, the last time they were together) with my tape recorder, just so I could have it. Does anyone know the name of that piece?
