Umm...guess what? You're here! Just try looking at any particular composer's discography and lo and behold - they're listed by date!
wow...

That only helps by composer.....not a chronological listing of ALL soundtracks by date.
Wow...

How about UPN codes! :- )))
:p
In all seriousness, IMDB does list movies by year so I guess it is possible and would have been an interesting feature to have here in SC as well even though I don't know if it will serve any practical purpose other than sheer curiosity and historic significance of course. I don't know anyone who categorizes their film scores by release date.
At the moment it might not be feasible for Ton & Erwin to do this without causing mayhem to the existing database... and their lives.
Perhaps once SC's database is upgraded it might include a feature that lists all existing OST's by year.

Still, it's a good place to start...
Think about it, there are currently 539,000+ soundtracks listed on this site alone. Granted that
includes multitudes of variations of the same soundtrack for a majority of the films listed here.
If Mr. Beton here wants the undertaking of trying to organize them all chronologically...more
power to him (or her) - thought honestly, I can't begin to fathom what purpose it would serve
for anyone anywhere.
