Lalo Schifrin's MANNIX - finally on CD !
For all those who haven't noticed it yet, Collector's Choice / Universal has just released the
original music from the series. Although the CD offers the contents of the LP from way back
when only, it has a fantastic sound quality, which perfectly accentuates Mr. Schifrin's
grooving sound.
Compared to the excellent re-recording, done by Mr. Schifrin some years ago (Aleph /
Warner) this one comes definitely with a lot more drive and verve, which can particularly be
noticed in the main theme.
The only drawback is the running time - 30 minutes only. :(

Good news indeed! I've only ever heard the Aleph re-recording which I thoroughly enjoyed but always wondered what the original might be like. P'raps the soundtrack to Hawaii 5-0 might soon see a CD release.

If you haven't already, get your hands on the Silva disc of "The Fugitive" (Pete Rugolo). 49 minutes of never before released cues from the David Janssen TV series.
To those who remember the series. Back in the early 80's I did my washing at a laundrymat every Wednesday morning in Santa Monica, California. Every week the same people were there doing their laundry. A woman and her elderly mother, my brother and I and John my dog (who had the run of the place), and actor Bill Raisch, the "one armed man" who Richard Kimble was looking for throughout the series.
I thought at the time it might be funny to lock him in the bathroom and call the police and tell them I caught the "one armed man".
