DOES EBAY ALLOW CD-R COPIES DEPENDING ON HOW MUCH MONEY THE USER PAYS IN FEES?
Its strange, since I reported the user COURTLEY2005 several times, because its so obvius he is selling CD-R home-made copies, some of them even copies of already silver pressed editions, like the Intrada release of YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES.
What I did noticed on his feedback, is that some naive users paid $100, $200 and even $300 for some of his fake cds, but ebay has done nothing.
Does ebay allow customers to sell pirate copies if they leave to them good money on publishing and final value fees?
It seems they do.

Ebay do nothing unless sellers are reported. Its a subject thats been covered alot over the years on here. I have a friend at Varese who has shut a few down but the problem is they just keep coming back.
anthonynputson, August 30, 2008; 6:51 AM

I reported another user several times also and ebay did nothing also, he is selling still his CD-R's without any problem, even today...
althazan, August 30, 2008; 9:14 AM

What seems strange is this seller doesnt have negative feedbacks.
Honestly, anyone who pay $300 for a crappy CD-R not only will leave a mounstrous negative feedback, but also report it to ebay.
Do you think this user is related to ebay, or maybe is a employer in the operation department who can modify the feedbacks?
I do recall the user re-animator, who sold problably 3000 fake cd-r and he had lots of negatives ones, he even had to make his feedback private.
But this user is really strange.
I think he indeed works on ebay, and take advantage of that, being himself changing his feedback, or having a friend there who do that for him.
What do you think?
I did contacted one of the buyers, and he said he returned the disc to get the money....so why he didnt left the negative feedback?

Unless you are a VERO member, ebay will not remove a listing based upon a complaint.
majestyx, August 30, 2008; 2:42 PM

Ebay is becoming a greed monster that will seemingly do anything to make more money, so is it any wonder why stuff like this flourishes. Ebay is going to destroy themselves the way they are changing all their policies. Soon they will no longer accept money orders or checks, only electronic payments (Paypal, obviously because they own Paypal and want to get a percentage of the payment on top of their listing fee and final value fee!)
piano632, August 30, 2008; 7:23 PM

Also its not a safe way to sell anymore, since a seller cannot leave negative feedbacks.
So, non paying bidders will never be spotted anymore, a buyer can buy a $500 cd, leave a negative feedback saying its a CD-R and paypal will grant him a refund, and a seller cannot do anything to prevent it.
Not to mention that if you dont use paypal to pay the transaction can happend what happened to me : ebay blocked my account, since if you dont use paypal, means someone may have stolen your account, therefore "for your protection" they block you and erase all feedbacks since the payment without paypal!!
If you ask me, Ebay could the site with more exposure to your merchindise, but the one with the worst policy for sellers. And the one without a question, with more CD-R and fake items of the world.

I am Courtley2005,
The cd's that I am selling are NOT homemade. I have bought them LEGITIMATELY from a UK shop. I do not work for Ebay and I do not appreciate slanderous comments. I am an honest seller and never mislead people into buying a cd. I do not in any way attempt to rip people off. Perhaps my buyers leave positive feedback because they are recieving excellent quality promo cd's and are happy with their purchases ( otherwise I would not get repeat business ). If an established UK business can legally sell me these cd's then surely I am in a position to pass them on.
I buy these cd's and innocently offer them for sale, granted they sometimes fetch a good price but this is something determined by market forces and desirability of the item. I always start a listing at 0.99 and if there was little interest, that may be all it would sell for. As I said, I am not out to rip people off.
Perhaps the disgruntled people of this particular forum should spend more time focussing on the huge counterfeiting industries flooding western markets, affecting employment and financing god knows what instead of griping about one guy who is trying to offer score collectors something they may have otherwise never been able to get their hands on.
By the way, I can go online at any time and find many sellers of cd-r promos, unofficial promos and bootlegs. Why I am being singled out is beyond me!
sjcourtley, August 31, 2008; 6:46 PM

This guy must be joking!!!
Please give use the name of the so called "legal" shop already stablished in UK.
Because your items are 100% ILLEGAL.
Taking "photocopies" of the INTRADA release of YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES is not very "legal" if you ask me.
Using the audio of other releases, and not paying for the rights to copy it is also ILLEGAL.
And ALL your disc are EXACTLY the same (silver disc with silk printing in black fonts and graphics).
Its pretty obvius you made them with some cheap devise to make silk printings.
You can make naive people think you are innocent, but nobody will swallow your words.
Can you explain also why you sold 5 copies of the same "RARE" item in less than a month, and in some cases 2 in the same week?
Perhaps you could point out also those dudes who sell fake copies on ebay.....will be the only good thing that can be made out of this.
nicolas28, August 31, 2008; 9:12 PM

I think we must advertise the bidders when they don't understand or know that the cd they will buy is a fake, a boot or a cdr copy SO the winner can cancel is bid before payment.
If ebay don't listen to us the buyer could.
zouz31, September 2, 2008; 11:16 AM

Yes, but the problem now is that ebay doesnt show the complete name of the bidder, only the first part and the feedback points, so you have no chance to warn the bidder.Only after the operation is completed and he leaves a feedback.
Its like if ebay did all to satisfy the needs of fraudulent sellers!
And to support fraudulent bidders.......mmmm
Seems ebay only want CHAOS!!! More complaints, more square trade comissions, more paypal comissions in the refunds....
nicolas28, September 2, 2008; 12:47 PM

I've filed complaints twice on actions by COURTLEY2005. No actions were taken by eBay. Both cases was regarding a bootleg of Ennio Morricone's soundtrack for "The Thing". A few days ago he cashed in $1,565.00 USD for an illigit boot!!! It pisses me off that he's cashing in on Carpenter's/Morricone's work. Check out this outrageous deal @ http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=320289247827

Let somebody amongst our members who was in touch with this seller COURTLEY2005 and has his name and address, send that info to us and we will make a warning panel against him/her like we did with Rocky Herring/Johnson.

It is a shame as I have never been dishonest in any way. I have always left my auctions to market forces. I am certainly no expert in the field of compact disc maufacture and I am penalised for selling cd's that I have previosly bought in good faith.
I am sorry that score collectors seem to have forgotten what scores are all about. I shall certainly continue to enjoy my collection.
Don't worry, I won't be visiting this website anymore. I will simply be listening to the scores that everyone wishes they could get their hands on but probably never will.
Cheers!
sjcourtley, September 20, 2008; 12:10 PM

Dont worry......nobody here likes your fake CD-R copies.
Seems you keep stealing people's money, and some other naive people bought you a fake cd for 50 GPB
Its wonderfull finally someone left you a well deserved NEGATIVE feedback.
And you just prooved you are a thief, since you now admit you didnt knew this cds are FAKE CD-R copies, but you still keep making auctions of them.
We will not only tell everyone here that you are a thief, but also to ebay, so they terminate your account there.
nicolas28, September 21, 2008; 3:44 AM

I'm not worried,
The feedback left is defamatory and my solicitors have instructed Ebay to remove it, so it won't be there long. The winning bidder did not pay. How he could make the comments he has, without having the cd's is beyond me.
I have contacted Ebay and they show no concern over items I have recently listed.
By the way, I thought I would include the definition of 'thief' as you obviously do not have a very good comprehension of the English language.
Theif - someone who steals.
How can I be a thief when I have not misled or taken anyones money witout their consent?
Your comments are slanderous and should you continue my solicitors shall be instructed to persue.
sjcourtley, September 21, 2008; 12:03 PM

you are indeed pathetic! you are a THIEF, because you steal money from people, and your method to be a thief is FRAUD, since you present fake copies as originals.
and the buyer already sent me PICTURES of your CDS, that you sent to him yourself, and fowarded your email, so there is no doubt you sent him those pictures.
Its PERFECTLY reasonable NOT TO PAY $1500 for a CD-R if he already learned it was a cheap copie.
And dont worry, Ebay will take actions gaint you, because he already contacted VARESE SARABANDE, and INTRADA records, the owners of the right to publish those scores, and you will be suspended for life.
The Administrator in this website already received your personal data, and they will make a WARNING! like the one already posted for Rocky Johnson, and nobody in the world will want to trade with you again.
P.S. I received information that you STOLEN material and GOT FIRED from a business.I will ask them to provide a DETAILED declaration about this subject.
nicolas28, September 21, 2008; 2:28 PM

Your comments are libellous. I have worked for an established UK public limited company for the previous 10 years and have very recently resigned on my own terms to take a position as a restaurant manager.
Whilst discussing any issues with regards to the compact discs I have been selling ( which are available from a UK retailer both in store and online ), all comments made by myself have been truthful.
Comments you have made are in the public domain, and have digressed from the issues which were originaly raised. Both my character and Ebay user id have suffered. I shall be taking legal advice and pursuing.
I have felt the need to defend my actions throughout the duration of this particular forum, however, I shall no longer participate or reply. Copies have been made of all communications and any further communications made by nicolas28 shall be forwarded to my solicitors.
sjcourtley, September 21, 2008; 8:02 PM

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Look how Im trembling!!!
Can you also show to your lawyers your fake CD-R copies? Because no lawyer will be so stupid to take a case if he also will see you sold FAKE copies.
Face it.....your fake cd-r will not last much longer. You better stay selling pizza at your rest
Please dont sell fake pizza!!
nicolas28, September 23, 2008; 4:04 PM

COURTLEY2005 is truly pathetic! He's actually threatening people for bringing to light that he's selling boots. People who cares about music and hate to see buyers and composers beeing screwed. I doubt anyone in here is afraid of your solicitors. Bring 'em on cowboy!
