RIP Neal Hefti

Just found out Neal Hefti died October 15 at age 85.

One of the coolest guys in music. Trumpet player, composer and arranger for Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Harry James in the 1940's and 50's and creator of many fine film scores during the 1960's.

I proudly own copies of nearly all of his recordings. One of my favorites is "Harry James Plays Neal Hefti". That's my favorite at the moment anyway, they're all great! "Hefti In Gotham City" is one of the best!

The guy nearly died in an automobile accident back in the 1940's.
