Classic 1950-s Sci-Fi movies with great scores. Gertz was really good, people who see these
movies notice the music even if they are not interested in soundtracks. I certainly will always
remember the theremin in 'It Came from Outer Space', one of the best Sci-Fi movies from that
era. He and fellow composers Henry Mancini and Herman Stein were not even credited for that
film! There is a superb recording of the music (that I treasure) on Monstrous Movie Music (MMM
1950). He will be sadly missed but the music lives on.

The B movie composers have always been my favorites. Those guys oftened worked outside of the restraints of the big money films. It's not a dying art. It's a dead art.
I watched "The Amazing Colossal Man" a couple of nights ago. What a great Albert Glasser score!
The CD "Mancini In Surround" credits HM with the score for "It Came From Outer Space".
It's always a sad day when one of the guys from that bygone era kicks the bucket. The old B/W B movies are the best!

Mancini, Stein, and Gertz all worked on IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE. The Mancini album only contains music written by Mancini.
