film score cd recommendations?
Hello,
I was wondering if any of you can recommend some quality film score cds you have purchased this year? That maybe are not the obvious popular choices a lot of us already have. I'm trying to give my family and friends some ideas for Christmas gifts. Thank You
Best Regards,
David Phoenix, AZ.

Paolo Vivaldi - Exodus (2007) RAI Trade FRT 425
Yôko Kanno - Ashura-jo no Hitomi (2005) Victor VICL-61582
Luis Enríquez Bacalov - Sea Of Dreams (2007) Varèse 302 066 849 2
Akira Senju - Red Garden (2007) Pony Canyon PCCR-00442
Eban Schletter - Witching Hour (2008) Oglio Records OGL89152-2 (not a film music, but very much in the vein of Danny Elfman's Nightmare Before Christmas)

Hi David,
I think you would certainly like Zbigniew Preisner's ANONYMA. :-)

There Will Be Blood by Jonny Greenwood
Kirschblüten - Hanami by Claus Bantzer
Die Fälscher by Marius Ruhland
I would recommend those.

Only one that convinced me 100%:
Wolfram de Marco - Loft
I rarely heard such a driving, percussive and intense orchestral score.

There was a 2CD edition of Bill Conti's MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE done-- something I thought I'd never see.
WARGAMES (Arthur Rubinstein) also finally got a fair release.
An old one, from Citadel/Bay Cities, that nobody ever talks about: Lee Holdridge's second violin concerto.
An easy one for a relative to get you: ROBOCOP (Poledouris)-- it's in shops!
