Sad news indeed...

Like Knives' brothers, my brother and me were guided by Mr. Ackerman through the amazing world of Horror Movies during our childhood. We both knew about him reading the spanish edition of "Famous Monsters". Somehow, he was one of our most influential teachers. Nowadays, we publish our own magazine called "Quatermass", which I feel like being an hommage to the greatest horror movies aficionado that ever existed.

Rest in peace.

Anyway, in case you want to know more details, I can say that our latest issue (devoted to Italian Horror, SF & Fantasy films) will be on stores by February 2009. The text is written in Spanish, and our contributors come from Spain, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Japan and some other country I can't remenber just now. It's published in full color, with hundreds of beautiful and rare photos, and a big section on movie music, which I write myself.

If you are interested in that kind of movies, I'm sure you'll love "Quatermass". If Mr. Ackerman had known it, he had loved it too :-)

Yeah, Knives, at some point on the process we considered making it as a bilingual edition (Spanish / English), but finally we opted for the Spanish edition. Our latest issue has over 350 pages. If we had made it bilingual, the cost had been exagerated(more than 700 pages in full color), and we didn't want to reduce drastically the amount of pics.

As I told you, this issue is devoted to Italian movies, but our two previous issues of "Quatermass" focused on Spanish and British horror & fantasy cinema. There is a lapse of 2 or 3 years between one issue and the next, but the final product is a really comprehensive encyclopedia.

Another of our publications is a biographical book on the late actor John Philip Law, which we wrote with his collaboration months before his unexpected death. The title: "John Philip Law: Diabolik Angel", with a foreword by legendary Ray Harryhausen. On that ocassion we published it in both languages, Spanish and English. Sounds like good things you guys have going. Unfortunately, the only language I can read is english. Have you considered publishing an english language edition? As far as I know they'e arn't too many print publications devoted to Italian horror in America. An english language edition could be a good seller.

I watched the Dario Argento film "Suspiria" for the first time several nights ago. I see on the IMDB that Dario is doing a remake.
