I haven't heard them all but I think the Rozsa's 1970's re-recording on the Dutton Vocalion CD which I have is excellent, both in sound quality and performance. It's actually a 2CD coupled with his Ben-Hur re-recording.

As I recall, it's highly unlikely that the original film recording would have survived and make it onto a deluxe CD.

That's the one I was thinking of. Originally released on the vinyl on the London label. I can't see how a performance of a Rosza score could be any better than the composer conducting. I have the old mono MGM vinyl with excerpts recorded directly from the soundtrack. It's an interesting thing to hear but the 70's rerecording has great sound quality.

If my memory serves me clearly....the Quo Vadis and Ben Hur Decca/London label versions, conducted by Rozsa ,were re-mastered and re-released a year or more ago.

Yeah, the re-release is the 2 CD Quo Vadis/Ben Hur-set on Vocalion that's available at a low
price. Highly recommended. The re-recordings were originally released seperately on Decca
Phase 4 LP's, then released on CD by Decca/London, still as 2 seperate releases. I also heard
that the original recordings for Quo Vadis were damaged or lost, so it's unlikely we will have a
2CD original soundtrack release like Ben Hur. Luckily Rozsa did a very good recording of the
most important pieces. Actually, there is an earlier re-recording of 3 themes from Quo Vadis
by Rozsa from 1952 in mono (Ave Caesar, Romanza, Quo Vadis Domine?) some 17 minutes
total. This was reissued on CD by angel in 1996, together with other Rozsa scores (some
recorded in Europe in 1967 in stereo). Another good compilation.

This CD was fantastic and I have seen half of the recorded video and enjoyed it a lot. Hopefully, people will love it as the director has worked really hard for this amazing film. Now I would like to visit https://www.bestessaytips.com/custom_essay/ website to hire a writer to assist me in my essay.
