PARAMOUNT at La-La Land!!!!

Can it be true? If I've understood correctly, La-La Land Records has announced they have reached an agreement with Paramount Pictures. Their first release will be Elmer Bernstein's AIRPLANE, and they say there will be exciting releases in the near future.

Read it here: http://www.lalalandrecords.com/SpecialAnnouncement.html

Great news indeed!

Angel

Lots of... good scores are being released lately. Holy grails for some perhaps. I don't know if I can keep up, financially. I don't like to miss out. I hate when they are sold out withing hours and resold at ridiculous prices (hint... Master Of The World which I missed). I'm suprised Howards's End is still around. The other day I caught this film half way as I was zapping TV channels with one eye open starring L. Olivier and some other fine actors titled The Betsy and I was struck by the score. I did not get the plot as much since I did not see the film from the beginning but I was engrossed by Olivier's presence. What a great actor that man was. I was wondering to myself, who could have composed such beautiful music. Well... searching the internet right after, it was Barry. No album has been released. With all the Barry releases we have seen lately, that would be a nice score to see released as well. I don't know if it was Paramount. Does it matter?

In any case, while reading the link, I did not catch the agreement part with Paramount but if that is the case that is wonderful news. Perhaps some other soundtrack record labels are eating their socks. Thumbs up to La La Land and to all the soundtrack record labels... of course! I just cannot keep up though!!!

Grrrrrrr!

P.S.

I would love to see the remaining Airport scores released ('77 & '79). Again, was that Paramount? Who gives a loop. These guys have changed dirty bed sheets so many times, I can't keep up. I don't know if the 1975 release is complete but if not, an expanded 1975 release will excite me very much as well. More than black chocolate which is quite orgasmic. Heck with complaints... CHAAARGE! Indefinite debt and lots of toblerones!!!

Serifiot, The AIRPORT saga belongs to Universal. That's bad news at the moment, because the only score released in those days was AIRPORT 1975, and according to the present situation, that old LP is the only one among these scores that could be released on CD (limited to 3000 if released by Intrada).

Anyway, if Paramount is opening their archives to record labels like La-La Land, that makes me believe everything is possible in the near future. Twentieth Century Fox was the first. Then MGM and Warner. Recently Columbia and Disney. Now Paramount. I think it's about time for Universal.

Good times for film music aficionados. Bad times for our pockets...

By the way, has anybody noticed that La-La-Land is releasing very interesting old vynils by AIP?: Legrand's WUTHERING HEIGHTS, Baxter's THE DUNWICH HORROR (finally!!). Can you imagine other Roger Corman productions in CD? (for example, David Lee's THE MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH). This is heaven... and hell.

I want to believe that sooner or later Universal will give in as well and they will. As far as the Airport 1975 score, as you probably know, that was released on cd by MCA Japan I believe. I don't know if it is complete. Whenever I watch the film, I always feel there is more music. Like I mentioned, it would be great to see this again. As far as the Dunwich Horror release, that is truly great news. I like Les Baxter. Definitely, I would love to see all those classic horror scores finally honored with a release for all to listen to. They are so long overdue!
