Lord of the Rings - complete editions
Does anybody know if the complete editions of the
LOTR soundtracks will have a fourth installment.
I was under the impression that this series would get a fourth set.
This time with alternates and more music that didn't fit on the previous sets.

10hrs of complete score are not enough for you...!?

Yes, that fourth set with alternates and the like is still planned. I remember that the producer confirmed that a few weeks ago on the Film Score Monthly message board.

As the owner of these three releases, which clearly state on the box "The Complete Recordings", I was compelled to check the dictionary definition of 'complete' and the primary meaning is "having every necessary part; entire". Alternate versions of tracks aside, what else is there to release if these are not actually the complete recordings?
I seem to recall we've been down this particular route before with the Star Wars music, and it's beginning to piss me off. I don't mind buying a score when it runs for only 45 minutes, as I'm well aware it isn't complete, but when I spend a large amount of money on a product based on its completeness it's annoying to find a couple of years later they have 'discovered' (or even worse, deliberately held back) more music.
Of course, it could just be that they have a shonky filing system and some poorly-trained temp at the recording studio filed some tapes in the wrong place...
