For now no CD release has been announced but the iTunes download.
Maybe Varese sometimes later but I don't think Disney will give some recent release to some
other publisher ...
I hope I am wrong of course !!

Welcome to the digital age....get used to the idea (as I've been reading lately) that the future will likely be all downloads, with fewer physical discs seen in the future. One day, this will likely also apply to DVD's....they'll be history and everything will be digital downloading to Flash drives.

Then explain why some soundtracks (and even non-soundtracks) get released as downloads-only (like for iTunes, etc.), many new artists release their new albums as downloads-only (and I know someone in the music industry who has even told me this), movies made for DVD-R on customer demand/order (Warner Bros. is doing this now for a lot of their older classics), and there's even video-on-demand which allows people to download directly to their computers or to things like their Tivo, etc. (Amazon has been doing this for awhile now). It's obviously the direction things are headed in.

I want the score but would much rather have it on CD. Even if I download it and burn a disc, it
feels like a fake copy, like I don't really own it. There's something to be said for physical CDs.

I have it frolm a very VERY relaivle source that Up will not be licenced fora cd version, very sadly and unfortunately.

I guess all we can do is to see whether an international import version (especially Japanese) is pressd on CD. If not, then the only remaining hope is to get hold of an Academy Promo CD Disney will be sending out in January.
For heaven's sake, I hope these people at least offer lossless downloads if they don't want to release CDs! Having only lower quality material available for a score as good as this sucks, man.
