Time to clean up the board: what a mess !! ^__^;;
It takes too long to load, even with my system's memory and speed, because there are now over 3,000 posts, many going back over EIGHT years. Hardly all of these can possibly be needed and kept, especially old Ebay posts, etc., which are certainly way outdated.
I don't understand why all these pointless, ancient posts are kept up, bogging the loading of the board down.

I'm no expert but is that what causes the delays? I thought it was my PC or perhaps all the pop-up ads. It could be the website itself. Maybe some upgrading to make it run faster since it contains so much soundtrack information causing it to run slow? This information increases on a daily basis.
I agree on eBay posts but all other threads could be useful for reference. It will be a shame to remove them. I don't think that FSM's forum has removed its original threads and that forum runs quite fast.
What this forum really needs besides some way to make it run faster is a thread search engine!!! That will cut down on some unnecessary double posting as well.

There's no search engine. I was skimming over the posts for an hour a few days ago trying to locate one in particular. Never did find it.

Yes, partially the reason....excess information, and everything is all displayed on ONE page with no breaks. That's the other problem....but if the site owners can't change the forum to allow for page breaks instead of everything on ONE page, I would at least get rid of all the old Ebay posts or posts advertising sales, etc. Those are obviously way outdated and useless. General discussions and other such informational posts can be kept, but not the old garbage which is useless.

The outdated technique used on this forum is what prevents me more and more from
consulting it. Nearly any forum on the web uses VBulletin which is modern, adequate,
reasonably priced and easy to implement. No idea, why SC still relies on technology from the
stone age.

I had brought the subject up not that long ago on a seperate thread (lost somewhere amongst the many threads since then) concerning a forum search engine. Ton responded that it would be implemented very soon. I believe this occurred like last year. He even asked for more suggestions. I don't believe anybody really made any more suggestions. In addition, I also recommended that besides a forum search engine, it would be great for SC's forum to have the ability to have an old thread no matter how old it is be brought back up whenever it receives a response.
In any case, I don't want to sound ungrateful. This is really a wonderful website and Ton and Erwin have done a remarkable job but the structure of SC's forum does need improvement. Perhaps SC is not really viewed as the place to turn to and chit chat about film music or whatever they feel like chit chatting about like with FSM's forum but rather more of as a database for soundtracks, which in actuality that's what it really is, but its nice to have a good working forum as well.
Personally, will I become more active once a forum thread engine has been implemented and once the forum has been modernized... I don't know. I do feel a bit burned out.
P.S.
One more thing... perhaps implementing an upgraded forum costs money and besides, it might create chaos withing the basic structure of SC's website thus having valuable information lost. I don't know... but going off on a different tangent, I always wondered (sounds extreme) if Soundtrack Collector (Ton & Erwin) besides being involved with their website, have ever considered launching their own soundtrack label. Okay... like we really need another one but look at Chris' Soundtrack Corner or Kritzerland. A record label named Soundtrack Collector sounds cool.

The posts where real information is conveyed should be kept in archive; I don't care how old they are. If there's a discussion between members, it should stay-- in archive, though, not on the main forum page.
The new-ish posts (last two months?) should be on that page, and headed by date.
The old "for sale" signs might conceivably be valuable (for soundtrack collectors, right?) to see what a particular disc is tends to go for, but maybe they should be converted into appendices for each title's page (okay, that seems labor-intensive). Come to think of it, the "for sale" posts should always have had their own category.

"For sale" posts are pointless to keep around, since they're almost always links to Ebay auctions....and Ebay doesn't keep those up more than a couple of months after the sales are over.
kriegerg69, July 24, 2009; 1:56 AM

I don't have a problem with the page loading, and mine works instantly. Though I agree about the ebay thing going back years. One of my friends posted a link here back in 2002 and the listing is still here, LOL.
