Golden Voyage of Sinbad re-release

Hi Folks -

Can anyone tell me if this release was officially remastered and if so, how the audio compares to the original? Also, are there any liner notes and if so, are they in depth?

I realize this new release is the complete score but I already have the complete score isolated on the laserdisc...

Much Thanks!!

I heard it was somewhat unofficial. I have the laserdisc also (the Sinbad box set), and I believe that isolated score is actually score and sound effects.....and it's in mono, also.

Hi bellfoosh,

Assuming you are referring to the 2-CD release by Prometheus, it most certainly is official, the remastered sound blows away the original release, and it has a 16-page booklet with very in-depth liner notes by Doug Raynes.

The same can be said for the Prometheus 2-CD release of The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad.

I agree.
The Prometheus CDs are official 100%. Rumour mongers on FSM and andyfilm.com would have you believe that because it's not put out by a US label, then it must be dubious quality. I would suggest that if one of the US labels did indeed put out Golden Voyage of Sinbad or Seventh Voyage, then the end result would be the same. Don't be put off because it's a European label. Prometheus know their stuff, just like all the other film music labels. I would back them everytime.

I just checked the database here, and wasn't aware that Prometheus had also done a 2-disc release of the complete score (interesting that the first 18 tracks on Disc One are the same as the single disc release of the score in stereo)...I'd assume their remaining mono tracks of the complete score are the same source as what was used for the laserdisc's isolated score/effects track.
