GOLDSMITH

Do many people knows that on the film score to DEF-CON 4 by Chrystopher Young there is a track called GIDEON'S LAW that is 99 % a track from Goldsmith's PLANET OF THE APES ? Was this intentional, an hommage ? I don't know i never saw the film.

It's not strange at all to find this kind of "hommages" in the first scores by Christopher Young. He was young and unexperienced. He had his idols, and Goldsmith was one of them. I think that while Young was looking for his own style, he frecuently borrowed other composer's styles. There is no doubt that PLANET OF THE APES was the main inspiration for the track you mention from DEF-CON 4. Anyway, you can find that "Apes sound" in many other moments along thas score.

And what about the track entitled "The Juggernaut" from DEF-CON 4 and its similarities with "Nightmare at 20.000 feet" from TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE? Check it out.

Angel
