That's odd, they worked when I posted them... Now they don't!
If you cut and paste them out of the links they do work. I will see if I can modify the post to make them work (again).
<edit>
Looks like it is a Tripod & Forum issue - Tripod isn't allowing the links to work from inside the forum.

By looking on all the eight pictures, my copy (also recently acquired) seems to be corresponding with "01".

Serpent And The Rainbow Counterfeit?
The one you call 00 does not fit my original copy.
If you look upon the original CD itself, you read in the inner ring "VCD-47362-1T" (00 has this inscription on the reverse side of CD - it looks mirrored on your scan) and a little further in smaller caracters "3I" (or 3t - it's so small I can't say for sure). 00 seems to have a sort of barcode on this ring, whereas the original has strange letters/signs and not only lines.
If you outfold the rear cover the side inscriptions must point to the same direction - 00 has these inscriptions in opposite directions.
I scanned my own disc and as with your 01 scan, the label number is not visible on the scan, whereas 00's label number is visible on the scan.
00's rear cover seems also to have a more important pixelasation (I'm not in possession of the original, so this is hard to say for sure), this could be because this cover is the reproduction of a scan. Also the letters appear more blurred on 00 which again points to a scanned image (here again you should verify with the originals in hands).
Hope this helps a little bit !

Thanks for the responses!
As you have pointed out the 00 is the suspected counterfeit.
The biggest thing I noticed was the digital bar code on the CD. I own many early original Varese CD and have never seen this. The other big flaw is the text on the side binding. The early CDs had the text going the same way on both sides. Later this style/method was altered by Varese so the CD could be stored where the text read up or down depending on how you put the CD on the shelf.
It's a pretty good fogery --OR-- has Varese actually pressed these again and been leaking them out? I have only seen the scans as you have so I can not comment on the quality of ink, color etc.
Does anyone own the 00 version who can comment?

I have my original - bought at the time of its release - right in front of me under a bright lamp.
"01" definitely fits. "00" doesn't.
Based on the scans, i would be quite sure the "00" version is a counterfeit. Considering its "supposed" rarity of 200 copies, it's clear that counterfeits will be/were made.
But to put a fly into everyone's cup of tea - who knows? Maybe the "00" is the original 200 version, and we're all having the counterfeits, haha :-)))
No, seriously, i am sure there were many more pressed - including me, i know 6!!! persons in my hometown in Switzerland alone that have it. Plus, it seems silly to pull something because of an erroneous tracklisting. Varèse often makes mistakes. They even copy/paste them from earlier releases (check the "Children Of The Corn" LP reissue in their club line - i know ARP 2500 and 2600 series - but not 25600 series, lol).
So my bread would be on the "00" being a counterfeit, for what it's worth.
Best,
Burnie

Alot of Varese Sarabande cds in the past where produced by JVC. It might be a counterfiet if there is no JVC in the outer ring. Why don't you send your links to Varese's website? The cd looks authentic but don't know unless I have it in hand with the inserts. I can visually inspect them all.

Well.......have you seen the price of that CD in some stores?
$300-400!!
How much you paid for it?
And do u have audio samples? or at least tell if there is a huge difference?
Not being as picky as some psycho wild collectors who reject a cd cos there is fly excrement in the cover, or a scratch in the plastic box.....I will not mind buying a silver CD......I mean.....those two disc are virtually IDENTIC! (unless they have a huge audio difference)
P.S. Not to mention old Varese releases are almost crap regarding sound and artwork quality : if you buy a LP will have better audio quality, and you will see CDs covers are just reductions of a scanned LP cover!! its like a counterfeit!!HAHAHA!!)
