your opinion on selling sealed cds & buying several copies
hello,
i’m having a conversation on this forum (« For Sale - Goldsmith, Williams and Silvestri ») and i’ll be happy to have more opinions.
the thing is i don’t get the point have having sealed cds at home and buying cds by two or three copies, one for listening and the other ones for trading.
when i buy a cd or when i receive my order, i’m excited, i want to listen to it right away and i ripp the seal off immediately and play it.
i have only one sealed cd (« captain kronos ») because bsx messed up with one of my order once (again…). even if it may be good, i’m not attracted by it and so i never took time to listen to it.
regarding limited editions, buying cds by two or three copies at a time cause problems. if you think to much, if you are not fast enough, you can miss it (and sometimes you have to be very very fast) because some people buy several copies for the only purpose to sell them with much higher price.
i missed « baby : legend of the lost » (intrada) & « the delta force » (intrada) because i didn’t react fast enough. only a week after « baby : legend of the lost » were sold out, a lot of sealed copies were available on ebay (or else) at $100. i think that’s bul.sh.t ! people buy several copies in order to make money and the other ones are enable to enjoy music because of that.
you will probably say that i’m very naive but for me, it’s should be a pleasure not a trade.
why is there any restriction ? one copy per customer (like sometimes on screenarchives .com) so that more people would be able to enjoy music without spending a lot of money.
now, i don’t think at all, i want everything, even the cds i don’t want because i don’t want to miss something, i don’t want to react too late. and that, that’s bul.sh.t too !!!

I might be willing to sell/trade my (unsealed & used) DELTA FORCE at a modest price. Right now I'm in a hurry, but if you are interested, feel free to email (address in my profile) me and I can contact you tonight.

As i always mentioned in the thread before i normally buy a single CD. If i have the idea, that the released title could be an often requested one i also buy a second copy. Why? Because i like to trade. There are titles i missed and i don´t have in mind to buy them for the double or triple amount of money. In this case i trade them for another rare CD i have in stock.
It also happens, that Intrada releases a Special collection and a Signature Edition. As I am not a big fan of the last one i buy two ICS´s because the postage for a second CD isn´t that high anymore.
There are surely many more reasons, why people buy second copies. I know stamp collectors who also have multiple stamps of the same kind. Why shouldn´t they?.
Collecting Film scores has surely changed along the years (i collect over 25 years). It has become very upsetting, a lot of new releases, re-releases, expanded releases and so on, but it also offers scores we never dared to dream of.
But i saw, that you also had for sale a second copy of YSH. Why complaining if you also do it the same way

regarding young sherlock holmes, the first copy i bought was signed by bruce broughton to a serbian guy. the seller didn't notice that. and my name is thomas...
so when i had the opportunity to find a second copy of YSH, i sold the signed one.
