... that can mean one thing: Hans Zimmer / one of his Remote Control guys... It has this subdued heroic pathos feel to it.

Of course, it might as well be anything else, hard to say. I would start the search with Zimmer.

I found the answer.

This isn't from a soundtrack, per se.
Its trailer music made by "Brand X Music".

You have all no doubt heard their music in
trailers to some very well known movies.

In any event, the name of the music is called
"Legends". It was composed by John Sponsler and
Tom Gire of Brand X Music. It can be found on
"Brand X Music Catalogue Volume 6."

Thanks for the replies everyone. The answer came
when I stumbled upon another YouTube video
that used the same music. Having heard the
piece so frequently I immediately recognized it and
asked the video maker what music he used. This
YouTuber was very helpful and quickly responded
with the title. :-)
