ALIEN INDECISION

My favourite JERRY GOLDSMITH score is probably ALIEN - a masterpiece. Over the years I have bought several different versions of the soundtrack: including the SILVA SCREEN label LP, the Soundtrack Library CD, the Colosseum/Varese Sarabande compilation CD, the Studio Master Track Tapes 500 CD and finally (from the now defunct Movie Boulevard), a 2 CD double album with the same artwork as the SILVA SCREEN/INTRADA Label CD's, which contains all the tracks featured on the Mercury Records CD release - mainly the two outtakes from FREUD, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik by Mozart and Symphony N0. 2 The Romantic. My problem is: I cannot decide whether or not to buy the INTRADA Label MAF 7102 CD. I can only listen to samples of the CD on the INTRADA website, but not the whole album, which is what is preventing me from making an informed decision. Also, I've always quite liked the music as it appears in the film, so at the moment I'm quite content with the last 2CD double album I got from Movie Boulevard. I guess it boils down to the question: Should I rebuy something I've already got, especially in this harsh economic climate right now? Also, the recent Varese Sarabande CD Club release of FREUD complicates things further because it suddenly makes my Movie Boulevard double ALIEN CD a bit pointless. I guess I'm asking: What would you do if you were me? I'm open to any advice or suggestions you might have. Thank you. Best wishes, Danny Bowes.

You can listen to samples of all tracks from Intrada's complete ALIEN here: http://www.soundtrack.net/albums/database/?id=4700

Buy it. It's always better to have an official release than a bootleg.

Buy now before it cost the same as all the previous bootlegs you got. I also have all the non official Alien releases, and also got the Intrada. By the way I think you ment MEMORY RECORDS 2CD, not mercury....
The INTRADA is actually only ALIEN, Freud score is not present......still you can buy the enw FREUD by Varese, unless you have the Tsunami.

Memory Records was sold for $200 on "those days"....now is practically ZERO....any new release makes the previous less valuable.....still, if you collect ALIEN music, each of all those scores you mentioned have something others dont.

Actually, the Intrada release seems to be going on print forever, as they didn't inform of a limited release.

You can do check the Alien 8CD Box Set which is around, that one is limited and it does have all the music available of Alien, including the Freud and the Hanson / Mozart tracks.
