Fright Night CD Limited Edition Score Soundtrack

Hi all.

Anyone willing to sell their copy of this or able to tell me where I can still find one from?

I'm after the Japan 2000 release with the label number: 'Reflex Records S 75820 P 441-2' with 28 tracks.

Very serious.

Thanks

The "CBS Records" release is actually an unlicensed bootleg CD-R, with no relation to the "real" CBS Records, and with relatively POOR sound quality compared to the Reflex Records release.

Also, the packaging of the Reflex Records release cannot be surpassed, even when compared to the "mini-lp" CDs that are being released in stores by major record labels in Japan. The Reflex Records release is absolutely gorgeous, and unfortunately, impossible to find, unless you are lucky enough to find one being sold on eBAY, like I did.

Reflex Records release: "Limited Edition of only 150 individually-numbered copies; packaged in a beautiful gatefold MINI-LP style slipcase. All tracks Digitally Remastered."

"CBS Records" release: CD-R with silkscreened label graphics, with poor sound quality and poor-quality inserts, packaged inside of a standard jewel case.

Hmmm...which one would you choose?

Thanks guys..

I LOVE the cover the the Japan mini lp release! Wow.

American Nightmare....would you consider selling your copy or would you know anyone that would come to an arrangement.

Your totally right. I want the original Japanese release and not some cheap fake knock-off!

Thanks.

xenawp007, December 6, 2003; 10:04 AM

Hi xenawp007...

Mine is the only original copy of the Reflex Records release that I have EVER seen (after all, there were only 150 copies pressed), so I don't know anyone else who has one.

I would not consider selling my copy for less than $600.00.

For American Nightmare:
please write to me (tyuan74@virgilio.it)
I have lots of soundtrack You are searching for, I'm interested in some of Your soundtracks (only for trade).
Thanks!!

Xenawp007,

Why don't you save yourself $600 (Man, that's funny.), and head over to www.movieboulevard.co.uk . They have the score, and it will set you back about $50, which I still think is way overpriced. It's really not a very good score, unless your a die hard Fiedel fan. Good luck.

FYI: Movie Boulevard is selling the same "CBS Records" CD-R that has been floating around on eBAY, with poor sound quality and shoddy inserts that could have been (and probably were) printed on someone's home computer. Don't waste your money.

American_Nightmare, December 6, 2003; 10:04 AM

American Nightmare, I can be reached at cbiro@wideopenwest.com, and I would REALLY REALLY like to speak with you about your CD version of the Fright Night soundtrack. My poor cassette tape version has just about had it... please contact me!

What Fright Night movie soundtrack do you speak of? You're not talking about the 80's vampire movie starring Chris Sarandon are you?

apps~

vahnatfranco, July 12, 2004; 1:57 AM

Of course. What else?

American_Nightmare, July 12, 2004; 5:15 AM

I take it this is the score and songs that you are looking for. In that case go to www.monstersinmotion.com you can buy it new, but hurry as it's a limited edition CD!

, August 5, 2004; 11:33 PM

Greaseinmotion, do you or anyone else have the version Monstersinmotion.com are selling? If so is it a factory-pressed CD or screened CDR? Thanks.

baalgehenna, August 6, 2004; 11:47 AM

Monstersinmotion is selling the phony "CBS Records" release, which I described in detail above. It is a CD-R.

American_Nightmare, August 6, 2004; 6:51 PM

Thanks for the reply American Nightmare. Cheers amigo.

baalgehenna, August 6, 2004; 8:27 PM

AMERICAN NIGHTMARE would you consider seling a cd-r version of the Japanese release? Or at least, the track "good man in a bad time"?

, September 12, 2004; 1:49 AM

Not a chance. That would be illegal, amigo.

American_Nightmare, September 12, 2004; 3:36 AM

Thats kewl. I just bought the song on a remastered Ian Hunter official 2000 cd release. It sounds great and probably even better than the Jap soundtrack would have. The cd is called "Once bitten...".

Hi American nightmare,

You seem to know quiet a lot about the OST of fright night, thats why i come up to you with this.
i got two possability's to get hold of unofficial copy of fright night.
Not the one manufactured by reflux records (Japanese release), but the american release by cbs/ epic, the 2nd most wanted. One is offered to me for $ 199 and the other for $ 121. They both claim it to be an original and they mailed me the ups numbers.
But since people with pc's can make real good copy's of inserts and cd's etc. you hardly can see the difference.
I gotta tell you, neither of them is selling it by ebay.
About the sellers, one doesnt know the label and also doesnt know if its an CDR or original, since its sealed. The other says its an epic release but he doubts about that. that one also appeares to be sealed, but he also knows quiet a lot about the OST.
is there another way to make sure if im dealing with an original or CDR. Since I searched for this soundtrack for maybe 17 or 18 years and im anctious to get a hold of one of those copy's.

Hope of hearing you REALLY SOON!!!!!!

My impression of the "CBS Records" release (which was not actually released by "CBS" but rather a clever bootlegger) is as follows: CD-R with silkscreened label graphics, with poor sound quality and poor-quality inserts, packaged inside of a standard jewel case.

Any of the "CBS Records" copies that you get will be CD-Rs, even the "original" batch were CD-Rs (blue-bottom discs with numbers printed around the clear center ring of the disc), and the inserts are only of mediocre quality (not high glossy prints), so if I were you I wouldn't even think about paying such a high price for such garbage. But that's just my opinion. However, your options are very limited since the Reflex Records version is virtually obsolete and no other releases are on the horizon, so if you REALLY want it that bad...the "CBS Records" release is probably your only bet. Wait and get a cheaper one off eBay, though, rather than dropping a small fortune on it.

American_Nightmare, January 24, 2005; 6:35 PM

Here are some pics of the "CBS Records" CD-R from a recent eBay auction:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=307&item=4068396995&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

You can tell that it is a CD-R because of the numbers printed around the clear center ring of the disc, and because the graphics on the label side of the disc are silkscreened, not professionally pressed and printed. This is the second or third generation of this bootleg to be "released," since the insert graphics differ slightly from others that I've seen in the past. Perhaps they've improved the sound quality a bit from the version that I previously owned, or perhaps not.

American_Nightmare, January 24, 2005; 6:44 PM

hi American nightmare,

thanks for your fast respond.
I understand its my choice wheather I wanna put a small fortune on the cd/ cdr or not, but the seller is an official onlineshop both of them actually.

I dont wanna mention their names, since other people might start looking for the soundtrack.
I only wanna mentione their names in a private mail, so other people cant read (no offence)
So is their another way to get in touch with you so I can give you the names of the onlineshops to inform me (if you know the shops offcourse) wheather its trustfull or not.
because one also spoke about cdr copy's on ebay wich were fake
and thats why his ost of fright night is so expensive, since its an american unofficial released cd. he also mentioned the release of refluxrecords, that it was the most wanted. and the one he has supposed to be the 2nd most wanted.
and made in a professional recording studio like yours.

hope to hear from you soon

b_steenbergen, January 24, 2005; 8:34 PM

My best advice to you is for you to review the sellers' feedback ratings. No matter whom you purchase it from, however, you can be assured that the disc you will receive will be a CD-R, albeit perhaps cleverly disguised.

American_Nightmare, January 25, 2005; 6:20 PM

Actually "American nightmare", What you have is a boot as well, It maybe a Silver CD, But the only version is on CBS Records in Japan. They were very limited, I have a copy I only paid $25 for it on ebay back in 2001. Good luck huh?

EvilDeadRules99, November 6, 2006; 8:33 PM

Evil,

I am well aware that the Reflex Records release is a bootleg. That's no secret. The soundtrack has never been officially released on CD, by "CBS Records in Japan" or anyone else. I've owned both the "CBS Records" bootleg and the Reflex Records bootleg (which I would never part with unless an official release surfaces), and the latter is far superior in every respect. Neither one of these are "official" releases, but we've got to take what we can get until the real thing comes along!

American.Nightmare, November 6, 2006; 11:56 PM

If I remember correctly, it first appeared in the early 2000s, probably 2001. There was no track listing on the packaging or disc.

American.Nightmare, December 9, 2009; 2:34 PM

No idea where the track listing came from or when it was posted here. I hadn't noticed that someone added a track listing to that entry until you just mentioned it. Looks like the same cues that are on the Reflex Records release, but someone just created names for them. The Reflex release sounds much better, although both are CD-Rs.

The Epic/CBS Records EK-40087 entry in this database should be listed under the "bootleg" category, though, as it was not an official release. ALso, despite what the entry says, it didn't come from Japan.

I posted some more pics of the Reflex release on this thread at the FSM forum, and learned some interesting trivia: http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=50198&forumID=2&archive=0

American.Nightmare, December 9, 2009; 3:35 PM

Ok, now you've lost me. SZ 40087 is listed as being released by Private I Records in 1985, and it's an LP. Also, there's no track listing in the database for that release.

American.Nightmare, December 9, 2009; 3:30 PM

WoW!!! American.Nightpolution!!! You bought a cheap bootleg CD-R??? Hope you got it from Argentina, or this wil make you a big HYPOCRITE!!

You are upset cos you claim Argentina only offers bootlegs, but you are happy to buy a USA fake CD-R (with the logo of the manufacturer of the cd-r on the inner ring!! hhahahaa).......well......explain that if you can!

nicolas28, January 21, 2010; 1:27 PM

American Nightmare, I want to buy your Fright Night CD, make me an offer.

teixeiramc, August 10, 2010; 5:46 PM

Look guys, a soundtrack was released with the songs on Private I
Records and only released on lp and cassette. In the mid 90's the
cassette changed from a solid shell to a clear see through shell.
This soundtrack was NEVER released on cd officially. The bootleg
cd of this album and the score has poor sound quality and is NOT
nor does count as the soundtrack with the songs first ever
release on cd.

I don't know why the song album was never released on cd. Even
though the cassette's shell went from a solid shell to a clear see
through shell on the cassette...you would think that someone at
CBS would put it also out on cd. Awaiting for a official score
release maybe coming out, for the song album on cd...that is a
wish for all of us to see be released.
