Hans Zimmer: polution?
I was wondering if anyone agrees with me that Hans Zimmer has poluted the filmmusic industry. The man had his moments (Backdraft) but overall his influence has, in my mind effected the quality of filmmusic in a major negative way!!!

I'm gonna have to agree with you Dirk and disagree with the 'retard'. He has spawned a number crappy wannabes who have just left film music in a mire. The insistence on using crap like strentfeld, djawadi et al does leave a bad taste in the mouth. Zimmer has his moments but very very few. I bet he cant even write music. Big productions that can often save themselves with a decent score are priceless. Clash could have improved as a film if the music had been composed by a Debney, Tyler or Horner to name but a few.

I think it is a matter of taste and will always be...if you don't like his music you obviously don't, than stay away from it as far as you possible could be that is clearly better for your health. ;)
He has countless good moments and he gave a very positive influence to the filmmusic industry, composed several good scores like Rainman, days of thunder, Da Vinci Code, radio flyer, Hannibal, Lion King, Prince of Egypt just to name a few. He had a few dissapointed scores but I think this men is a very fine composer.

I happen to like most of what he and his company do...so I am going to disagree with your statement.
