THE ALAMO by Dimitri Tiomkin
This is a message of thank you to James Fitzpatrick (Tadlow) Luc Van de Ven (Prometheus) for this outstanding release. Nic Raines' conducting of the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra is a tour de force. he wrings out every nuance of Tiomkins hugely complex score and the Crouch End Chorus shine as never before. I thought that Tadlows previous effort - the complete EL CID was impressive but this just blows you away. The programming ia well thought out as well in comfortable 60 min. slots for the first 2 disc and the final battle, finale and bonus cues on the 3rd disc.
My only dissapointment is the lack of stills and production notes from the movie itself.
And in conclusion does anyone know when (or if) a DVD of the directors cut is due to be released. I have the old VHS copy and is the sole reason why i have to keep a video player.
