Alien - DeLuxe?
Do more people wonder why there is no sign of a new Alien CD ? Especially now there is so much fuss about that Quadrilogy DVD release. There must be some demand for the original score to the first chapter of this space-horror-opus! I am, for one, very interested in a re-release ...or have I missed something....?
I hope the record-company (Weyland-Yutani?) doesn't see the (previous edition) dvd isolated score as a soundtrack release.
If somebody has an idea how to persuade the higher powers (Fox?) in this matter, I am listening.
p.s. I don't count the various (bootleg) incarations as re-releases.

Alien (Sigh),
I'm confused as hell about "Alien", fullstop. I've been an owner of the basic Silva screen Cd for years. Then somebody sent me a Cd last year which was about 15 tracks or so. I've since seen another one on the net which is 2cd's. Then i've seen some other bootlegs on the net, including one of rejects, alone. Another one was from Spain and a limited edition. Another just seemed like a plain DVD rip of the different parts used, unused, and alternates. I've heard some of those DVD rips tracks before from the Alien DVD, and they were really badly hissing in quality (albeit very interesting to hear).
After seeing all these different versions out there, i just dont know which one to get. There are so flippin many now, that i'm just plain confused and very wary of buying "anything" incase it's not the best one to get. I'm just confused. Like you, i would prefer a offical release of the lot at some stage. It would make things a lot easier to understand, and would guarantee that we'd get good quality sound.

This is a real hot spot for me, because of all the scores I want this one is probably numero uno on my wish list. But unfortunately I think there was such a stir between Ridley Scott (director of Alien) and Jerry Goldsmith over the former's mutilation of Goldsmith's original score for the film that we never see a widely released album. Oh, well, here's to hoping.
