Question

Is High Noon released by SAE an original recording?

Or only a re-recording?

I am interested in it. Anyone could tell me?

It is the original recording, including the Tex Ritter famous ballad. The recording is from 1952, so the sound quality can't be compared to today standards. Anyway, an absolute master piece. Don't hesitate it a second, go for it!
You will also find a beautiful 32 page booklet with plenty of interesting information and stills. The overall art direction of this release is top notch. An absolute treasure.

Thank you, Angel~

I am glad to know that it is original. It should sounds like the recording in 1950s, because it was made at that time.

For the cases like Jaws, Somewhere In Time, Out of Africa, I would choose the original one, rather than re-recording one (although the sound quality of the latter is better).

I can only second angel's comments. The source were not the master tapes, but acetate discs from the late Dimitri Tiomkin's own property. The booklet for this CD is so thick it almost bursts the CD case's front.

In my opinion, this is one of the most important and best releases of the 2000s. It is crazy that some other hype titles have sold out in one day and this historic release has not. But then again it's great when such a milestone CD stays available for film music connaisseurs. :-)
