Question

"A Certain Smile" - Mono or Stereo?

I have the Australian pressing of the soundtrack of the film "A Certain Smile" (1958). The catalog number is LAALP-004. According to the cover and labels, it's in stereo - but it sure doesn't sound like stereo. I'm wondering if I should get myself a copy of the original stereo issue on Columbia CS-8068. Has anyone out there heard both? Am I imagining things? Columbia stereo albums from that time period usually had incredibly good separation. Mine is really boring.
Thanks
Andrew

Look at the audio bars on your stereo receiver - they will usually indicate how many channels are responding to the LP signal. Sometimes foreign pressings list American music as stereo, like Jackie Gleason's RIFF JAZZ album on Capitol and BELL BOOK AND CANDLE on Citadel, but the records only track in MONO.
I have both Columbia LPs for A CERTAIN SMILE and you can really tell the difference! Don't trust the erroneous listing on that Aussie LP jacket!
