Possible fake Predator Score. Need help please

Hey Guys,

Just purchased the Predator Varese release from ebay not long ago and I suspect it's a copy, but need confirmation from anyone with this score.

The first indication that it’s a copy was when I noticed differences between the jewel case pictured and the case I received.

Second is that it the case is shrink wrapped differently from my other sealed Varese releases.

Third is that the that the fine print on the back cover seems very dull and washed out suggesting that the original covers were scanned then re printed.

If anyone can help me confirm this by maybe sending me pictures or your original that would be great.

Picture of eBay listed score.

Below are pictures of the score I received.

Hello Richie,

the Back insert has the tracktitles written in Dark green. Composers name and the following are written in yellow. There is no sign of wash out. To be sure look on the inner CD ring. It must be written IFPI L240.

What is the sellers name ?. There are a few well known people that usually deal with fakes.

Hope this helps
Peter

Thanks a lot for the reply mate.

ebay seller ID: socky1958

The inner cd ring reads:

VCL 08031022 1F Y

IFPI LN46

There are light scratches on the cd so it has been re shink wrapped.

The booklet looks, feels and smells genuine.

Varese Sarabande told me that the shrink wrap on mine is different from other Club releases.

Just checked the seller´s history:

- He buys lots of CD-R Silver Inkjet printable blank CD´s.
- He sells Conan the barbarian (2-CD complete)
- He has been accused of selling bootlegs (although he gave a refund).

There has been a discussion on SC about Predator fakes and how to recognize them a while ago. You can compare all facts with the CD you purchased.

Hope this helps

Peter,

Thanks very much for your replys and help.

Well, i guess you have confirmed that I did buy a counterfeit copy.

I have searched a while to get my hands on this release and it makes me sick that people do this!!!

Will file a report through ebay now.

Thanks again and I hope this thread helps others indentifying copys when buying.

The seller I bought it off is giving me a refund which is fine.

He claims he had no idea it was a fake and bought it from Argentina.

Looks like the real deal lists "IFPI L240". Also the font is different from mine to an original.

Hope it is not the argentinian guy well-known here on the board.
Good news you´ll get a refund, hope you can purchase the real thing one time.

I ended up picking up an original in mint condition from eBay for $53 US.

Pretty good buy :)
