Great but "underated" composers

With all the same composers being hired over and over again for the
same lame blockbusters or sequels , I wondered, if anyone can give
me some tips for great scores and composers which don´t necessarily
have
great movies or budgets behind them but beautiful themes and
haunting scores:)
For example:
Christopher L. Stone , which - in my opinion- , beats every overrated
"noise composer" like TYLER, but never seems to get a big movie to
score....Maybe someone has some tips for my record collection:)

I usually like Michael Brooks film music, "Affliction". Ry Cooder is another pro, "Paris Texas". Bill Laswell, "Broken Vessels". Ralph Towner, Jan Garberek, pieces of their film music are scattered about on different discs.

My recommendations:

Wolfram de Marco - Loft (How to turn a big scale orchestra into
something that's vibrating with percussiveness.)

Christopher Slaski - Moving Images (Compilation - give a listen to
"Cuadrilátero" and start to shiver!)

Alex Wurman - Thirteen Conversations about one Thing

Ludovico Einaudi - Sotto Falso Nome

Carter Burwell - Fur

David Julyan - Insomnia (An extremely underrated composer imho.)

Quite a relief to finally read a question on actual music here again and not just the flood of small ads.

I also like Wolfram de Marco, and while it was his LOFT score which made me aware of him, too, I also like his piano work in his ZEIT, DIE MAN LEBEN NENNT and SCHICKSALSJAHRE soundtracks. But LOFT is probably his most addictive one so far.

Pascal Gaigne from Spain (he's actually French). Try 'Le Cou de la Girafe'
or 'Gordos'. Soundsamples are on the Quartet website
(www.quartetrecords.com). I like just about everything this composer
puts out, beautiful themes, very melodic, haunting scores, brilliantly
orchestrated.
