Sale Value of CD - TWISTER motion picture score MARK MANCINA
Hello. I'm looking to sell some of my soundtracks and i've noticed
that the following seems to be OUT OF PRINT and goes for high
prices at the Amazon Marketplace:
Title: TWISTER motion picture score
Composer: Mark Mancina
Year: 1996
ATLANTIC CLASSICS - 82954-2
BAR CODE Number: 0 7567 82954-2 3
CD Manufactured in USA
Packaging Printed in USA
Prices in Amazon's Marketplace for USED copies in "Very Good"
condition range from US$43 to US$ 129.
My question is two-fold:
A) why does a soundtrack, at least this one, command such high
prices when i bought it at retail price back in 1996?
B) how much could i sell it for within the Soundtrack Collector
Community?
I am a soundtrack collector myself and would hate this CD to go to
someone who won't value and enjoy it as i have all these years.
I'm selling because i'm moving to another country and taking my
complete collection would be very expensive, so i am only keeping
the essentials.
I thank you for your help :)
Regards,
-Jose

The answer to your first question is, don't trust Amazon Marketplace.
There are a hell of a lot of (american) sellers, who try to push prices
beyond any reasonable limit.
To give you an example, I've recently watched a book by Michael
Kenna, which was listed as oop on Monday, go straight up from 30$
to more than 500$ until the end of the week - by the same sellers,
who had offered it for 30$.
Unfortunately, some private sellers think that these prices are can be
fetched indeed and start to offer their own books / CDs at the same
level.
The only effect is, that the whole market gets mixed up and
(hopefully!) no one is stupid enough to buy these ridiculously
overpriced items.
To answer your second question, you can sell it for as much money,
as someone is willing to pay. But don't be surprised if the offers will
not meet your expectations. We're obviously living in a recession and
in the last year, even many scarce items failed to sell on eBay for
more than 20-30$. (This doesn't count for bootlegs and counterfeit
Varese Club CDs! ;) )
Good luck,
David
