"Anna to the Infinite Power" (1983), music by Paul Baillargeon

Years ago, as a five year old, I became somewhat fixated on the music featured in the 1983 film "Anna to the Infinite Power". The song composed by Paul Baillargeon -- 'Anna's Reverie' -- was a dominant character in the film, and was essentially my first exposure to classical music.

I became obsessed by the haunting melody and begged my parents to buy some albums of classical music for me. Eventually my mother relented and purchased me the LPs for the documentary series "Contact".

That's all it took. I was hooked for life and eventually set out to become a professional cellist.

For years I've tried to recall the name of the film, and speaking to a friend earlier this evening I mentioned what little I could remember about the film. She immediately knew the film I was trying to describe and even knew who had composed the music: Canadian composer Paul Baillargeon.

I've searched the internet but can find no mention of any soundtrack for the film, although the film was re-released on DVD in 2010. I also wonder if perhaps a compendium of Paul Baillargeon's music for television or film has been released at some point, and if perhaps 'Anna's Reverie' was included.

If anyone could offer any help or suggestions on where to search further I would be most grateful. Thank you!

No, in fact, he's been exceedingly hard to find. Every avenue I find, goes nowhere.
