main theme 70s movie

in my childhood a movie on tv was shown with a protagonist
description: warrior, pirate... i always though it would be the count of
monte cristo, but no.

the score i'm looking for is manly violin, flute & probably bagpipe (so
it could be rob roy or highlander - sounded quite scottish). i even
thought about a serie like barry lyndon.
eventually composed by ennio morricone.

already by the first strings touched my heart. quite melancholicly
played.

anyone got a clue? thanx!
