Question

In the middle of the film there is a wonderful scene ( setting is evening in a ski
lodge) in which an absolutely terrific female singer is singing and dancing ...She's
dressed in black ....I believe the song is either in French or possibly Italian
.....She's Great and I would love to know who she is so I can find her work .

I think you are thinking of the original Pink Panther film, released in 1964. The song is It Had Better Be Tonight (in English) and Meglio Strasera (in Italian), the music is by (who else?) Henry Mancini and the English lyrics were by Johnny Mercer and the Italian lyrics were by Franco Migliacci. It was sung in Italian by Fran Jeffries who played the Greek cousin in the film.
