2 CD Conan the Barbarian set?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2598345484&category=1058
That's an auction advertising a 2 CD Conan and Young Sherlock Holmes set. Am I just better off buying the 16 track Varese release and saving up my wages for the Young Sherlock Holmes promo?
I've never heard of a 72 track release for YSH...

You must be kidding. Did you read that seller's feedback??? He's a notorious scam artist from Argentina who's victimized many of the members of this very website.
Word to the wise: The very first thing that EVERYONE should do when considering a purchase on eBay is to LOOK AT THE SELLER'S FEEDBACK. Otherwise you're just asking for trouble.
Avoid his auctions like the plague.

I checked his feedback, and it did raise some suspicion when I noticed it was private.
Thanks for the warning! That's $40 not gone to waste.

The official promo of YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES contains 11tracks on CD1 and 12 tracks on CD2 but there is actually a recording with 72 tracks. It's the recording sessions of the score, also a 2 disc set with 36 tracks on each disc. As for the CONAN THE BARBARIAN 2CD set it is always better to buy the legitimate release. I had bought this 2CD set from ebay for an exhorbitating price, true that there are many cues that are neither on the Varese, Milan or MCA editions but then the sund-quality of these cues is obviously inferior. Varese should release a REAL 2CD set of CONAN THE BARBARIAN. Let's hope one day they do.

I agree with you.Conan its one of the best OST, and should have a complete release some time.Varese is now releasing a lot of OST with extra tracks and never released score like Robocop, Commando , Predator.
But for $40, I will take the chnce only for the Holmes 2cd.
Have you seen how much cost the intrada release??? $200!!!

Yes, $200 and even more. A friend of mine bought is for over $300. I have all the mentioned releases and wouldnt even think minimally of selling any of them. Goodluck in finding them ata good price but it's hard to find a seller that will sell them for their original price ot for just a little higher.

I've got a 2cd set of Conan the Barbarian. On Mazeltov label (i think). Not from Ebay. I did'nt pay too much where i got it. It's true that most of the unreleased material is utter shite in terms of quality. Really naff indeed. Some are passable, but nothing near the quality of the released cues which follow them. But it does have Poledouris's score for "Sword and Sorcery" on it, and also Alan Silvestri's - "The Luxor Ride". On my release, the released cues are just from the Varese edition. The unreleased cues are these :
Haven for Thieves (:28)
Tower of Set (7:01)
Escape (2:07)
Tavern Source (1:05)
Children of Doom (:47)
Battle Preperations (:51)
Encounter with Rexor (2:40)
Resourcefull Warriors (2:04)
Doom Decapitated (:52)
End Title (4:23)
At the court of King Osric (1:17)
I dont buy any of these "Promo"..or "Rare" things on Ebay. They're very often just con artists trying to make massive money and decieve that they've got something unique. I know where they get all of their CD'S from, and they dont pay very much for them. They're not fooling me. When these CD'S start getting bids over $60, i just cringe at the poor naieve folks bidding for them, even though i try to warn them when i can. A couple of times i've had it out with some of the sellers. But they nearly always used the same excuse "I'm just cut and pasting the description that other sellers have used from previous auctions of the item". Who knows. But many professional deceivers are on there hoping to make big money out of desperate score seekers. I've been told to mind my own business a few times. They have a point i guess. Afterall, auctions are auctions and it's a case of buyer beware and arrive armed with knowledge before bidding. I just know they're out to decieve when they "begin" their auction at $40+. If somebody begins their auction at the usual price, then i think that's alright and there is less deception involved.
I remember earlier this year, people were paying stupid money for that German pressed Highlander Cd (which still has very little Kamen material on it). The sellers were trying to say it was an "Official Promo". Nonsense. It's properly pressed. That part is true. But it's not a promo, nor is it official in any way. When it comes to soundtracks on Ebay, it's a case of "Buyer Beware" and "Do some research when you see something up there which seems too good to be true";. If something's too good to be true, then it usually is'nt.

It would be nice if Varese did a deluxe edition or a CD Club release for this score. I'm sure it would sell. As for YSH, I did try selling my original Intrada release, but nobody was interested, so I took it off. I may put it up for sale at a later date.
