Lolita - Ennio Morricone

My new (sealed) copy of Lolita on the Milan label No. 74321 52318-2 appears to have a fault at the end of track 17 / start of track 18.

In the last few seconds of track 17 the sound disappears and reappears to repeat the previous few seconds, or is this a false start to track 18. It is hard to be certain which.

Does anyone recognise this fault on their own copy?

Many thanks for any reply.

Sadly all copies I have heard have this defect, both the US edition and the original Italian edition which I guess means the thing was not remastered for US release. I mostly just listen to my 2-CD expanded version anyway.

Many thanks to shopro7 - having purchased the CD on eBay I was wondering ...

My email to Milan quering the "fault" received no reply - I'm pleased that we, in this community, can - and do - help each other.

I'm bemused by your reference to the 2CD expanded version - it's not listed in the database.

The soundtrackcollector.com datebase is no here NEAR complete.
It is missing many promos, bootlegs and doen't even list things composers have done.

-I have the 2CD set as well.

The Lolita soundtrack has been my favourite CD for years... What's the difference between the 2CD version and the single CD version other than the tracks are on 2 CDs?

I would try ripping with Exact Audio Copy and see what happens. I have a Raphael CD (Angels of the Deep) that hangs on the last track on every stand-alone CD player I've tried it on. The EAC rip was flawless. If you use a lossless format such as flac or ape then you can burn it back to an R/RW with no quality loss. If the disk is pressed wrong then you can use a media editor to repair after the rip...then reburn.

I was wondering if anyone knows whether there is a sound quality different between the 1998 US release of Lolita and the 1997 French release. I just received the CD today, it happens to be the French release but the sound quality doesn't seem to be that great. I would appreciate any comments, thank you.
