Jane Eyre(Herrmann) questions

I have the Adriano re-recording, and the short OST release, and was wondering if the longer Soundtrack Library cd is worth getting. Is it (hopefully) just music, or have dialogue? Is the sound quality good? How does it compare with the Adriano re-recording?

The Soundtrack Library CD is all music.

It's a CD that had "archival recording" on the liner notes so the sound reproduction is a bit less than you would expect from a moderm release. It sounds as though the CD has tracks from different sources. Some of them appear to be from acetate discs, therefore there is a bit of surface noise associated with some of the tracks.

For reference, if you are familiar with Film Score Monthly's recent Herrmann score ON DANGEROUS GROUND, the deteriorated sound quality in the JANE EYRE release is not as noticable.

I can't comment on how it compares with the Adriano re-recording since I don't have that (Marco Polo?) release. But, the Soundtrack Library CD is original Herrmann.

Thanks, Alan. Sounds worth getting. I've ordered a copy from a store in NY.

I can't help with a trade but I can point you in the direction of where you can buy it.

http://www.intermezzomedia.com/ lists it in their online catalogue. If you are interested then you should e-mail them to see if they have it prior to ordering it.

They are an Italian site and I have ordered from them several times. They are very reliable and my packages from Italy to the UK have arrived without incident. I'd definitely recommend them.
