I haven't a clue about the movie but, as a wild guess, could the singer have been Nancy Sinatra?

A recent CD called California Girl features her take on this 60's song, much slower than the original, a touch "bluesy" with guitar (& washboard) though it becomes more orchestral in the second half. I can't recall JJ's voice thus cannot compare, but this NS recording is a little deeper than her pop hits of that decade.

I hope the next contributor has a better offer ...

I know the answer. First of all the movie is called: Nailed. Second the singer is the wonderful, amazing, great, fantastic, unbelievable Beth Hart. You can check her out at her official website www.bethhart.com. You can also find some additional info on her fansite www.monkeyback.com. She got a new album (her 3e) out this year and it's great.

She's one of the best singers ever!
