He was a master of music, a master of darkness, and a master of minor. He will be sorely missed. No longer can we stay late in a dark movie theatre after sampling a spectacular score and know that by the way the music was wrought that the score was a genuine Goldsmith. But his music will live on. GOLDSMITH FOREVER!

It feels kind of weird to be so upset over the death of someone you never met. Especially since his own family is in more pain than any of us could hope to be over Jerry's passing. Yet, he did something most strangers cannot do: he touched our lives.
Even if you don't listen to movie scores, you probably heard his work in one of the countless movies and television programs he contributed to. And if a secne in one of his films was exciting, touching, funny or just plain good, odds are Jerry Goldsmith had something to do with it.
Outside of the films, his work could grab hold of you and change your very mood. Nothing brought that silly smile to my face like listening to one of his scores for the first time and hearing a slow track suddenly burst to percussive life. His catchy rhythms and creative compositions could send chills throughout my body. He could make me stop whatever I was doing, close my eyes and and be carried away on the music. Very few composers today can do that to me.
A list of credits would fill a volume and an equally long list of favorite cues would be pointless. Let us all be content with our favorite work and be united in our love of his genius. Jerry Goldsmith never knew me, but be inspired me, cheered me up, woke me up and kept me smiling.
When someone enriches your life, you owe that person thanks. It's late, but thank you Jerry.
You have earned your place with Rosza, Herrmann, Newman, Steiner and Waxman. You are a legend, a true classic and you leave behind a body of work to be proud of. While I regret the fact we'll have no further compositions from you, I celebrate the discoveries to come of past glory.
Rest well, you've earned it.

I just finally received my long-awaited expanded PAPILLON today, and what I find out ? The great meastro's score list is finished. One of the most interesting composers has left us.
RIP Jerry !!! Your music will never leave us !
