This was not released on CD. I have the LP, and would like to see it on CD too.

Nighthawks has been released on CD, it is an official release (NOT a bootleg) but it is nowhere to be found. As far as i know it was a limited edition pressing, which unfortunately I was not fast enough to get.

baalgehenna is right.
The CD was only available through Keith Emerson's official website (http://www.keithemerson.com/Store/KE-store.html). It was a limited edition run of 1000 CD-Rs, with silkscreened graphics on the label side of the disc. Each copy came packaged in a slimline CD-R jewel case, with a professionally-printed front insert (single sheet w/Nighthawks logo on the front and track listing and other details on the back), but no back insert. Also included with each CD was a "certificate of authenticity" card, each individually stamped with a unique number. My copy, which I purchased over a year ago through the above-mentioned web site, is stamped # 243 out of 1000. I just now checked Emerson's site but the CD is no longer listed there, so I assume that it is now sold out.
You can view more info about this CD on this very web site: http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/catalog/soundtrackdetail.php?movieid=36522. If I'm not mistaken, the track list is exactly the same as the original LP. I submitted a cover scan of the CD's front insert to be included in the database a number of months ago, but unfortunately it has not yet been added to the page.
Perhaps you could e-mail Emerson's company and beg them for a copy. That tactic has worked for me before with a different company (who shall remain nameless, lest they get bombarded by shameless gravelling beggars like myself), when I REALLY wanted a CD that was already officially sold out. It just so happened that they still had a sealed "office copy" laying around, and they sold it to me for the original issue price (although the CD was already selling on eBay for three times as much by that time!).
If that doesn't work then your best bet is probably eBay, but even if someone is foolish enough to sell their copy I'm pretty sure you'll have to pay a lot of money for it.
P.S. The sound quality of this release is amazing, and of course the score itself is incredible, so if you are lucky enough to track one down, don't hesitate to buy it!

I just bought a vinyl copy of Nighthawks on Ebay for $10. I find a lot of rare music there. You can also use emule or search for ed2k links to download out of print music.

Hi there,
The last years, when I watched `Nighthawks', it struck me that they used a different soundtrack during the ' confrontation scene' in the club. It's not half as good as the original one. Does anybody have a clue as to why they chose to substitute the original score?
Kind regards,
