Question

Unknown Movie Theme

There is a theme from a movie ( I have no idea which one or how long ago the movie was ) that I hear all the time as background music during athlete profiles on ESPN and the major networks during special sporting events, like the Olympics. I have also frequently heard it during movie trailers for upcoming movies, even though it is not part of that movie's soundtrack. It sounds like it is a full orchestra, with a lot of violins, and it is a sweeping theme like you would hear in an 'epic' film. It's not 'Glory' or 'Band of Brothers', but something similar to them.

They use a lot of score. Go to:

moviemusic.com/cgi-bin/mb/Ultimate.cgi

Go to General Discussion. there is a thread about it and on the second page, a link to a page created by the thread starter where he lists what was used and has clips for pieces he can't identify.

Frequently, the answer to this kind of question is "Randy Edelman". His movie themes are often used for Olympics, movie trailers, and so on. Check out the theme from "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.", the track "Fire in a Brooklyn Theater" from "Come See the Paradise", and the track "Bruce and Linda" from the score to "Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story"". I'll wager good odds one of these is the theme you're looking for.

I know a lot of the music from THE ROCK was used during NBC's NFL telecasts. Zimmer's score was awesome action stuff, so it was a cool fit for football.
