Question

How are professional labels put on?

Some from ebay feel real slick and smooth, others feel rougher (I'm guessing cd-r). How do the real companies put them on? And some inserts seem like cardboard, while some seem like glossy. ????

Labels?

Ya know, labels on a cd. I'm trying to determine what are pros and what are some guy in his living room using labels from Comp USA. When they're in the press at factories, are they using the same kind of labels that you can buy at computer stores or ??? Matte, gloss, all that.

Uh, no.....Professional/company-made "labels" are NOT labels, but a sort of silkscreening process applied directly to the disc and not the same whatsoever as the sort of "stick-on" type labels you're describing....although some home labelling systems do have the ability to print directly onto a disc surface.

As far as the "cardboard vs glossy" thing.....it depends on the type of paper used, obviously.
